For 2.0.0 release, convert to use a multi-vcs library for the back-end. This will help reduce the code size and make the library more robust (given that the back-end system is robust of course).
Almost certainly use Postmodern's scm gem when it is ready. There's also the amp gem as a fallback option, if need be.
