App is live and reviewed but non testers cannot be authenticated

Hey guys,

I haven't been able to get any support from the community so I'm reaching out here.

I am getting an error on fetching long live access tokens. I don't have this issue with testers.

I am both business and tech provider verified.

Endpoint error:

Status: 400 Error: {"error":{"message":"Unsupported request - method type: get","type":"THApiException","code":100,"fbtrace_id":"AmRXEj0Vy4vTk0rmakGMs3M"}}

Hi @niyonx and @sviluppisw! Can you confirm that your apps went through App Review and that you received approval for the threads_basic permission?

You can see your App Review requests under "Review > App Review" in App Dashboard.

We can confirm that our app currently shows as "published", as you can see in the attached screenshot.

However, under the section you mentioned ("Review > App Review"), we see the following:

Could the issue be related to the fact that this specific permission was never explicitly submitted for review?
Let us know if we should proceed with a formal submission, even though the app appears as published.

Hi there, apologies for the delayed reply — we’ve been finalizing the platform development and preparing everything for submission. We are now ready to proceed with the App Review, however we are currently blocked by an issue in the Meta Developer Dashboard and we’d appreciate your help in understanding how to proceed. Specifically: - When attempting to submit the app for review, we receive the following error: *“Reviewer Instructions are required for App Review”* [image: image.png] - However, when we try to configure a platform (as requested), we are unable to successfully save it. Even after adding a Website platform with a valid URL, the dashboard returns an error on save: [image: image.png] - As a result, the platform does not appear as configured, and we are stuck in a loop where: - we cannot submit the review because no platform is detected - we cannot configure a platform because the save action fails At the moment, all Threads permissions and endpoints are fully implemented and ready for review (with video screen recorded done and filled up in form), but we are unable to complete the submission process due to this issue. What's Likely Happening

The App Review submission flow requires at least one platform (Website, iOS, or Android) to be configured in your app's settings before you can submit. For apps with the Threads API use case, there are some known edge cases where the platform save can fail, creating the issue you're describing.

Steps to Try

1. Add the platform from "App Settings > Basic" (not from the App Review page).

• Go to developers.facebook.com → My Apps → "Name of Your App" → App settings → Basic.
• Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page.
• Click the "+ Add platform" button.
• Select "Website" and enter your site URL (must be a publicly accessible, valid URL — not localhost).
• Click the "Save changes" button after you finished entering all of your details.

This is different from trying to configure the platform from the App Review submission page itself, which is where many developers encounter the save error.

2. If the save still fails, try these troubleshooting steps:

• Clear your browser's cache, try an Incognito window, or use a different browser.
• Make sure you're logged in as a user with an Administrator role on the app (not just a user with a Developer role).
• Ensure the URL you're entering is a fully qualified URL with "https://" (e.g. https://example.com).
• Check that your app has completed Business Verification (some configuration changes are blocked until verification is complete).

3. If you're adding Threads API to an existing app that was created a while ago:

Older apps may not fully support the newer "use case" based configuration that Threads API requires. If you continue hitting errors, the recommended path is:

• Create a new app at developers.facebook.com/apps/creation.
• During creation, select the Threads API use case (e.g. "Access the Threads API").
• Set up your Threads API permissions on the new app.
• Your existing app and its approved permissions will remain unaffected.

This is the cleanest path forward and avoids the configuration conflicts that may occur when trying to enable Threads API onto legacy apps.

4. Reviewer Instructions Field

Once you have a platform configured and saved:

• Go to Review → App Review → App Review Requests → Current requests.
• In your submission, look for the "Reviewer Instructions" field.
• Provide clear, step-by-step instructions for how a reviewer can test your Threads integration (login credentials for a test account, what actions to perform, expected behavior).
