FWIW directfb is the only way to use framebuffer with SDL2, and we need that functionality in postmarketOS to use SDL2 (e.g. in the initramfs for a password prompt with on screen keyboard) with devices with downstream kernels that don't have dri drivers yet.

So... I hope it is not dead. We might be able to help with a little bit of maintenance if necessary.

Thanks for the link! They do have 155 commits on top of this repository. But still, the last commit was about 4 years ago, so it does not seem to be maintained.
